The Spence School
FOCUS:
Self-confidence with purpose & passion
The ethos of the Spence School is focused on creating an environment that is empowering, intellectually stimulating, and socially nurturing for the next generation of female leaders. Found by visionary educator Clara Spence in 1892, girls at Spence have access to a challenging liberal arts curriculum with options to explore interdisciplinary paths in the Brizendine Center for Ecology with subject choices such as ‘Ecologies of Pandemics’ and ‘Food & Power’ or fellowship programmes under the guidance of a mentor, in the Arts, history or scientific research. An internship programme and an established lecture series, with notable speakers such as author Jhumpa Lahiri and Civil Rights Attorney and politician, Jane Kim, gives pupils a chance to develop and use their skills beyond the classroom.
