Dulwich College

FOCUS:
Critical-thinking and independent learning
Set in the leafy ‘village’ of Dulwich close to London, this sought-after school has been part of the landscape here for over 400 years, established in its current distinctive buildings in 1869. The polymath Head, Dr Joe Spence, a librettist and playwright in his spare time, is inspired by the tradition of genuine scholarship, fostering ‘free learning’ independent of exams and alert to preparing pupils for a changing world beyond the school gate. The pupil body is diverse and mainly drawn from the local area, but international boarders bring a global perspective. With exposure to university-styled electives and a Liberal Studies programme, pupils are well-prepared for the critical thinking and academic demands of top universities.
