Cate School

FOCUS:
Think critically, reason creatively
Located on a stunning 150-acre campus in Carpinteria, California and set against a backdrop of ocean and mountain views, the mesa was a perfect spot in 1910 for Curtis Wolsey Cate to found a boarding school. Based on the traditions of the East Coast schools but capturing the ‘can do’ spirit of the West Coast, this combination still works today; rigorous enquiry based learning takes place in the mornings, balanced with rock climbing or surfing in the afternoons. Admission is very competitive with only 80 highly motivated US and international pupils admitted a year. The campus boasts top-tier facilities, including a competition pool, multiple sports fields, an arts loft, providing a stimulating and holistic education experience for all. Articulate, independent thinkers Cate pupils are welcomed at all top US universities.
